She was one of the fastest athletes at Harrison High School – a playmaker in the fall, disrupter in the winter and record-setter in the spring. 2021 graduate Ava Tombragel left her mark across three seasons for the Wildcats, and will now take her talents to Miami University Hamilton.
The time has come around for the review of Harrison’s charter. Six months ago, nine members of the community, including the mayor and a member of city council, were selected to review the charter and recommend any necessary amendments to the charter.

Harrison High School golfer Abbey Coyle won the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association Tournament’s Lebanon Shootout at Harmon Golf Course June 11. Coyle, who will enter her senior season at Harrison later this summer, shot a nine-over-par 81, the low score in the girls 13-18 age group, and had birdies on the fourth and 18th holes.
Pitcher/outfielders Cam Hering and Carter Daniel, catcher/infielder Cade Combs and first baseman Braeden Zuber were named to the Southwest Ohio Baseball Coaches Association all-star team for 2021. Hering and Daniel were selected to the first-team; Combs and Zuber were honorable mention. Hering, Daniel and Zuber are seniors; Combs is a junior.
Amber Garrett will be a name the city of Harrison remembers for years to come. After her murder near the end of 1991, her classmates planted a tree at Harrison Elementary in her honor. Now, almost 30 years later, they came together to save the tree.

When Donna Engel bought her home on Bond Road in October 2019, she knew about the nearby landfill but was told nothing extreme would happen at the site. Just over a year later she joins her neighbors and other nearby residents in an effort to stop a future expansion of the Bond Road Landfill.
Neighbors of a proposed development on Edgewood Road showed up to express their concerns at the Harrison City Council meeting on June 15. “We have concerns not only with the traffic, with the type of home, with the schools,” neighbor Michael Brech said.
Love’s Travel Stop has applied for a zone change in Harrison Township. The rural zoning commission will meet to discuss the zone change July 1.
