The Ohio County Community Foundation (OCCF) recently awarded $35,250 in scholarships to Ohio County residents currently continuing their education. The scholarships are funded from scholarship funds established within OCCF by donors who wish to financially assist Ohio County residents and or graduates of Rising Sun High School in their effort to earn a degree.

The Rising Sun High School Alumni Dinner was held Saturday, June 19, at the Community Center, South Mulberry Street, in Rising Sun. The 123 guests were welcomed by Connie (Grace) Brown, alumni president.
The Chick-fil-A Louisville Food Truck visited the Rising Sun Visitors Center on North High Street June 22 serving its famous chicken sandwiches and nuggets. Although it was the first time the company had set up in a place as small as Rising Sun, Kendal Miller, executive director for Ohio County Tourism, said, “I think they will determine after today whether or not we’ll be a regular stop on their food truck route just as Auntie Anne’s Pretzel did.” Hungry citizens waited their turn in line patiently instead of cooking their lunch and dinner meals..
A Summer/Fall Basketball League presented through the Indiana Sports Group 812 will be having open registrations until July 6 at the Aurora Recreation Community Center. Games will be played on Thursday and Friday evenings and some Saturday mornings July 17th through September 4th and will be played at the Recreation Community Center in Aurora.
Does your non-profit organization have a project or program that would benefit the residents of Ohio County that can’t be initiated because of lack of funding? The Ohio County Community Foundation invites non-profit organizations whose projects and programs benefit Ohio County to apply for the OCCF Annual Celebration Grant program.
The Rising Sun Regional Foundation has awarded a total of $45,000 in scholarship grants to 45 graduating seniors who reside in Ohio and Ripley counties and the city of Aurora, the foundation’s southeastern Indiana grantmaking region.
