James “Jimmy” McDaniels

Hoosier History Highlights from the Indiana Statehouse Tour Office James “Jimmy” McDaniels was a “musician’s musician.” Born in Alabama, he spent many years of his life in Indiana. Known to Hoosiers as “The Piano Man,” he came to the state with a rich background of talent and service.

Students in Rachel Ransom’s first-grade class at Moores Hill Elementary learned about the legend of the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog’s Day. Marlie, Morticia, Scarlett, and Sophia are shown with their groundhog coming out of his burrow. Board unanimous in closing school

Moores Hill Elementary will be closing at the end of this school year after a 7-0 vote by the South Dearborn School Corporation board. Saving the corporation money so it can be put to managing the declining enrollment, enhancing curriculum and extracurriculars for all students, and securing necessary funding to pay staff were reasons in the discussion of shutting the school down.
