SUBMITTED PHOTO Students at Rising Sun High School were able to obtain their food handlers certification via ServSafe thanks to certification scholarships provided by the Ohio County Community Foundation. Course content included basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature, and cleaning and sanitation.
The COVID relief bill signed into law last week will provide Ohio County with over a million dollars in relief funds. Part of the American Rescue Plan Act, the State and Local Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Funds will provide flexible aid to counties.
For the past six weeks, Ohio County resident Susan Sattler has been volunteering at the Lawrenceburg Event Center where she is helping with the COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Sattler typically donates one or two of those days, helping with the administration of about 400 vaccinations each day.
Students in Tresa Patz’s nutrition and careers classes at Rising Sun High School participated in their own version of the hit cooking TV show “Chopped.” Every kitchen had three ingredients that they had to use for their dish. The students worked for two days on their creations.
