After taking last year off due to the pandemic, the Rising Sun High School cheerleaders were back for their third year hosting Princess Night May 21. The annual fundraiser raises money for the cheer squad and is put on by the cheerleaders, their coaches, and parent volunteers.
The Rising Sun Community Pool is set to open for the 2021 season on Saturday, May 29. The pool will offer adult aerobics, pool parties, swim lessons, and recreational swimming.
Workers with the Rising Sun Street Department recently painted a red line in between the double yellow line already dividing the part of High Street that runs in front of the Rising Sun Volunteer Fire Department. The red line was added to show respect and appreciation for the local fire department and its volunteers. The idea was introduced a few months ago when Rising Sun resident Sunshine Colen saw the idea on Facebook and proposed that the city paint blue lines on the streets in front of and beside the Rising Sun Police Department. There will be a lot of sanitized hands in this area. The United Way of Greater Cincinnati Southeast Indiana recently was donated 1,572 gallons yes, gallons – of hand sanitizer through a partnership with CINTAS Corp.

Michael Joseph Huff, 63, of Florence, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Kentucky. Michael was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 17, 1958, a son of Donald Huff, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late Doris (Romer) Huff.
The sound of rapidly clicking video game controllers filled the South Dearborn High School Knights Esports teams’ computer lab May 21, as a focused group of athletes beat Kankakee Valley High School to claim the Indiana High School Esports Network 1A State Championship for video game Rocket League.
