OSGOOD - Edging Class A Sectional 60 host Jac-Cen-Del 11-10 in Monday morning’s semifinal round at Bradshaw Field, Rising Sun baseball advanced to its second-straight title game that night. But Oldenburg Academy (16-7), ranked in the top 10 in the state coaches’ poll earlier this season, stopped the Shiners’ quest for their eighth sectional crown in school history - and second-straight, with the 2020 spring season canceled - with an 11-3 victory in the 7 p.m.

Park plan discussion

The Rising Sun-Ohio County Park Board will have a public meeting for input for its fiveyear master park plan at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Center at 510 S. Mulberry St.

Alumni dinner

The 2021 Rising Sun Alumni Association Dinner will be Saturday, June 19, at the Senior Community Building on South Mulberry, and will honor the graduating classes of 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2021.

Honoring those who gave all

As Memorial Day was celebrated on May 31, residents of Rising Sun gathered for a time of remembrance for those loved ones who lost their lives while serving in the US Military. While most festivities were canceled last year due to the pandemic, Rising Sun was well represented to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

New Pavilion

A new pavilion was built at the Rising Sun/ Ohio County Tourism Visitors Center thanks to a grant from the Ohio County Community Foundation. The pavilion was created by Caleb’s Construction and will be used to welcome groups and as a community space. SUBMITTED PHOTO
