ANNE BAKER (WATTS) WHITING

 Anne Baker (Watts) Whiting, 98, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., entered into eternity August 12, 2024, with her daughter at her side. Anne was born in Harrodsburg, Ky., on October 7, 1925, to Floyd and Myrtie Lee (Baker) Watts.
 Anne was raised on her family’s farm in Salvisa, Ky., where she developed her lifelong love of horses. The Kentucky Derby was a major holiday in her view, to be celebrated with a mint julep! As a teenager, Anne was chosen as one of Harrodsburg’s “Southern Belles” to greet FDR when he came to Harrodsburg to dedicate the George Rogers Clark Memorial.
 Anne graduated Kentucky Wesleyan College and was a social worker in Covington, Ky., where she met the love of her life, Charles “Bud” Whiting. They were married in Harrodsburg on September 3, 1947. They had 72 years together and traveled widely.
 Anne was an avid bridge and golf player in her retirement and volunteered with the Cincinnati Mu­seum Center. Anne was a beloved member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrenceburg.
 She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Myrtie Lee (Baker) Watts, her beloved husband Charles A “Bud” Whiting Jr., sons Charles Mark Whiting and James Harton Whiting, and her grandson, Jason Watts Whiting.
 She is survived by her daughter Susan Anne (Whiting) Steigerwald and son-in-law David Lawrence Steigerwald, and grandchildren, Peter Charles “Pete” Steigerwald and Jane Anne “Janie” Steigerwald.
 A graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, August 15 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Epis­copal Church, Lawrenceburg.
