WILLIAM DENVER REDWINE JR.

 William (Sonny) Denver Redwine Jr. passed away on April 13, 2024, at the age of 81. Bill was born to William and Mary Redwine of Dillsboro in 1942 and he graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard after graduation, where he served for over 25 years, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.
 He met the love of his life, Barbara, in 1969 at a military dance and they spontaneously decided to get married a few weeks later. Their marriage lasted for 54 years until Barb’s death in 2023. Bill was a devoted husband and father of three children, Jascia, Mary and Jason.
 After retiring from the military, Bill and his family returned to his hometown of Dillsboro where he was a member of United Methodist Church. He enjoyed a few more careers after his retirement, including serv­ing as director of community corrections for Dearborn County and working as a deejay at WSCH.
 Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia, great- grandchildren Cetine and Theodore, and his wife, Barb. He is survived by his three children; honorary daughter Jennifer Foster; and grandchildren Michelle, Kayli, Jonathan, Payton, Brooklin, Mia, Xavier, Andrew, Matthew, and Ryan.
 A celebration of his life will be held at Dillsboro Civic Center on August 4 from 2 – 4 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and share memories of Bill’s life.
