Burnett “Burs, Burnie” Harry Havlin, 88, of Aurora, Ind., passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.
He was born August 3, 1935, in Kenton County, Ky., son of the late Carlisle Havlin and Sarah (Gausapohl) Havlin.
Burs retired as a salesman from Tri-State Wire Rope with several years of service.
He loved music; he met his beloved Nancy while playing an upright bass in a band for her Newman Club parties in 1958-59, and spending time with his family. Burnie had an infectious smile and was seldom happier than when playing the guitar for sing-alongs with friends, family and especially the grandkids.
Burs is survived by his loving spouse of 64 years, Nancy (Mullinger) Havlin; children, Mark (Amy), Debbie (Mike), Gregg, Shari (Mike), Vince (Tabitha), Kevin (Erin), Amy (Bobby); grandchildren, Taylor, Carlee, Kaitlyn, Melissa, Leah, Jeffrey, Drew, Tyler, Danielle, Breanna, Emilee, Justin, Leah, Cody, Ashley, Josie, Kiera, Landon, Alex and Arianna; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlisle and Sarah; siblings, Carl, Corrine, Ruth, and Mary Jane.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 13, 2024, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora.
