A crane that was trying to make a turn from Walnut Street onto Williams Street didn’t quite have the clearance Friday morning and knocked down the signal for the railroad crossing. The crane was headed to help in the renovation of the Liberty Theater. Until the signal is repaired, and it may be a couple of days, the train will stop before crossing Walnut Street and a conductor will get out to stop traffic or place a flare to warn motorists a train is coming. A railroad worker at the scene said the signal is an old model and he didn’t know Friday morning if it was repairable or a new base would have to be used. The tracks going through town are used mostly by Indiana and Ohio Railroad and MPG Inc.Marc Emral/The Register
