Mesa, Arizona – David Leslie Manlief, 83, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 28, 1940, to Thomas and Joan Manlief, David was a 1958 graduate of Sunman High School and in later years a graduate of Indiana University. He was a military veteran who served proudly as a Marine in Vietnam, as a Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey) helicopter pilot. In his retirement, David and Mary enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and visited all 50 states.
 He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law (Kenneth D. Wisehart). Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise (Johnson) Manlief, a son Mike Manlief, a daughter Jen Manlief, siblings Malcolm Manlief (Ramona) and Patricia (Manlief) Wisehart, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
 A memorial service will be held at a later date.
