Edwin (Ed) David Clark

Edwin (Ed) David Clark, 75, of Harrison passed away on May 17, 2023. Born to Earl and Edith Clark in 1948 of Cincinnati Ohio. Ed was the apple of his grandpa Face’s eye and life was good when the family moved onto a 2-acre mini farm on Salem Road where his brother Tyler and he did everything together. As a young adult, Ed began attending ROTC at Bowling Green State University to make a career as an Army Ranger until life chose a different path with love, marriage, and fatherhood in 1967.

Ed was also known as the father of the Lawrenceburg soccer program started back in the 1970s training officials, officiating, and coaching all five of his kids. He was also part of the Goodtimers athletic club for many years. This group of extended family provided Ed and his family with many of the happiest memories that he and his loved ones enjoyed throughout his life as they traveled, socialized, and enjoyed sports together.

Ed was the definition of a dedicated, passionate, hard worker. He was employed at Procter & Gamble – Miami Valley Laboratories, Cincinnati, Ohio, for 34 years as an immunotoxicologist. He co-authored several scientific journals and two books within the scope of immunotoxicology during his career. He also achieved his bachelor’s degree in natural science at the University of Cincinnati. He had an extensive interest in anthropological and horticulture research, which included multiple archeological trips exploring and rebuilding the Yucatán Mayan ruins. After his early retirement from P&G, he continued as a private consultant. Upon retiring he pursued his life passions of SCUBA diving by becoming a certified advanced diver while diving all over the Caribbean and South America, hiking dozens and dozens of trails all over the world with his walking stick, backpack, and bandana, playing golf or more appropriately tearing up a golf course, and telling partially true stories to pass the time. He loved his family dearly and especially his grandkids. He was a kid at heart and always had some sort of fun trick or game to share. He will be deeply missed.

Edwin Clark was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years Cheryl Clark, his parents Earl and Edith Clark, and is survived by his three children Eric Clark, Jamie (Kim) Clark from his first wife Jean, Sarah (Adam) Ashpaw, and two stepchildren Barbara Burck and family and Brian (Jenny) Binz and family from his second wife Cathy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cody (Lauren) Clark, Casey Clark, Regan Clark, Kylie Cox, Wyatt Clark, Skylar Ashpaw, Colten Ashpaw, two great-grandchildren Presley Clark and soon-to-arrive Layla Cromwell, and brother Tyler (Sharon) Clark and family.

Per his wishes, Edwin’s body has been donated and accepted by the Body Donation program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he will be able to continue contributing to his love of science and research.

There will be a small gathering for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (In Memory of Edwin Clark), UC Foundation, P.O. Box 19970, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45219.
