Lanny Lee

Lanny Lee, 82, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Aurora, Indiana, son of the late Russell and Helen (Baatz) Lee.

Lanny loved to hunt and fish and had a profound love, appreciation, and respect for nature. He did things and taught others to do things the right way. Lanny held himself to a high standard and expected the same from those around him. He was a teacher, a mentor, a friend, and a second dad to so many. He always found the time to help sight in a gun, target practice at the shooting shack, or even help call in a turkey. There wasn’t much Lanny didn’t know a little something about. He was a Jack of all trades and could fix about anything. Lanny always had great advice and even better one-liners. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He was a member of the Laughery Valley Fish & Game Club and the National Rifle Association. He was a 1959 graduate of Aurora High School. He worked as a foreman at Schenley, Monsanto, and Bayer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn York Lee of Aurora, Indiana; two daughters, Gina (Tim) Barrett of Aurora, Indiana, Angie (Bill) Rose of Aurora, Indiana; four grandchildren, Emily (Joe Carroll) Barrett of St.Louis, Missouri, Ellen (Joe) Britton of Independence, Kentucky, Hannah (Alex Hill) Rose of Rising Sun, Indiana, Adam Rose of Seattle, Washington; his great-granddaughter, Evelyn Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Vance Lee, mother, Helen Lee, sister, LaDonna Moore.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 6 p.m.
