During the 1980s, she worked in the restaurant and insurance businesses as a manager and claim’s adjuster. In the 1990s through 2010 she was also a prominent Girl Scout troop leader, substitute teacher and Leader of the Harrison, Ohio, Lions Club. More recently she was a volunteer worker at the nature center in Boca Raton, Florida, often nurturing marine life, including sea turtles, back to health.

Deborah was best known for her travel agency Check-In Travel managing and owning vacation rental homes in Florida and the Florida Keys. Ultimately she became a corporate travel manager for The Campbell Group. In 2010, she and her husband and daughter, moved to Huntington, Indiana, becoming active members in The Chapel, a non-denominational Christian Church, serving local community missions.

Her faith and love for animals and the great outdoors was always evident in her desire to spend time with her Scout Troop and serving at 4H dog and horse shows, plus shooting camps with her two daughters. She was known to spend more time when vacationing on the water than on land often out fishing everyone else in the boat. One of her favorite bible verses is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She never knew a stranger and was always seeking to help and put others first.
