Jean Marie Ascherman

Jean Marie Ascherman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Nov. 24, 2022.

She is survived by her husband Anthony Ascherman. Jean’s deep love and admiration for her husband was true testament to their 54 years of happy marriage.

We will remember Jean for her loving nature, her wit, and her sometimes ornery but endearing stubbornness.

In her spare time Jean was an avid reader and she also enjoyed watching tennis. She enjoyed playing euchre and hand and foot with family and she was extremely competitive. Jean never shied away from colorful language especially if you were her opponent in bowling or playing cards. Many will remember Jean always having her Diet Coke in one hand, and a cigarette in the other.  Jean was famous for not holding back her opinion and her knack for “telling it like it is.” She always told you the truth, even if you did not want to hear it.

Jean and her husband both accept Jesus as their savior and belonged to Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church. Jean will be remembered for her famous baked macaroni and cheese and her carrot cake, especially by her fellow members at Mt. Sinai UMC.  Jean took immense pride in her rose garden and loved her annual Mother’s Day trips to buy spring flowers to plant in her garden. She shared her love of music by listening to Patsy Cline and to the Anne Murray Christmas album while decorating for Christmas. However, she strongly urged her close relatives to never sing in public because in her words “they couldn’t carry a tune in a wheelbarrow.”

Jean was a mother to many. Even beyond her own six children, she took in any who needed a mom. Because of this loving spirit, she will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.

Along with her husband, Jean is survived by her siblings, James Fulton (Sam Fulton) and Dorothy Holt (Bill Holt); her children Casey Dietz (Gary Dietz), Jennifer Mcclure (Bill Dawson), Robert McCorkle, Audra Muncy, Heather Ascherman, Marc Ascherman (Sarah Ascherman), Robin Murray; her grandchildren Josh Meyer (Mary Meyer), Caleb Meyer, Adam Meyer, Nikki McClure, Nathan McClure, Clayton McClure (Monica McClure), Kyle McCorkle, Keith McCorkle, Desire’ Ascherman, Kirsten Cline (Timothy Cline), Dakota Muncy, Felicia Ascherman, Matthew Calvert, Clayde Ascherman, Carsyn Ascherman; and her greatgrandchildren Anna Marie Hackman, Jenna Meyer, Hadley Meyer, Ava Jolee Hackman, Timothy Higgins III, Taylor Higgins, Brady McClure, Blake McClure, Talia Newkirk, Timothy Cline Jr., and Callie Jean Cline and greatgreatgrandchildren Tatum Higgins, Ellie Cloud, Olivia Cloud.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Marie Fulton, her sister Janet Kolbinsky, her son in-laws Gerald McClure and Mike Lehan, her daughter in-law Melanie McCorkle, and grandson Neal McClure.
