Frances “Fran” Marie (Bray) Stout

Before Harrison grew in numbers there were the locals that knew everything of what was going on … todays Google or Facebook. Fran Stout and her husband Jimmie were one of these locals. They worked at the A&W in Harrison, Double S. Corral (now known as Borderline) and then they opened Stouts Drive-In that ran from 1977-1988. After retiring they had to catch up on the local news and frequented Zaracos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner many days. Those were the days. Fran passed away on Aug. 14, 2022, at the age of 82.

Frances “Fran” Marie (Bray) Stout was born in Lee County, Virginia, to Clarence and Myrtle (nee Dotson) Bray. She met her husband in college, where he said she was the best potato sack hopper and had to get to know her. They married on June 23, 1960. They were blessed with three children Kimberly, Virginia Lee “Ginger,” and Jimmie II.

Fran was the glue that kept the house running and stood by her husband with all his adventures in business. She was also a teacher at Crosby Elementary School. After retirement, Fran and Jim traveled and everywhere they went it was around a good place to eat, bluegrass music or to catch up with friends over coffee. Fran was a member of Miami Whitewater United Methodist Church and Lawrenceburg Chapter No. 427 Eastern Star.

Fran is having a great reunion with her husband Jimmie; parents Clarence Bray and Myrtle Dotson Bray; and sister: Clara Stocker.

Those left that will now have to finish many pots of coffee by themselves are her children: Kimberly (Greg) Wilson, Ginger (Bill) Korn, and Jimmie B (Megan) Stout II; wonderful grandchildren: Kelly Meyer, Jerad Wilson, Bradley (Shanna) Korn, Shawna Korn, Tyler (Linsey) Stout and Tanner (Fiancé Joceleyn Smith) Stout; extended grandchildren: Devon and James Serrentino; greatgrandchildren: Jaylen Meyer, Brayden and Barrett Korn, Jaxon Stout, Oden Stout, and Avery and Elliott Serrentino. Also survived by her brother Clarence “Curtis” Bray and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, from 10 a.m. until noon. Eastern Star Service will start at noon followed by the funeral services. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.

Fran loved her dog Cookie and when she had to go to the nursing home, she had to give her up. The family asks that memorials may be made to PAWS of Dearborn County. You may make donations at the funeral home with a funeral home representative, or you may mail your donation to the funeral home, and they will notify the family of your donation.
