Francis (known to all as “Frank”) was born in Haverhill to Alice Aurilla LaPierre and Francis Leo Mellon on February 21, 1934. He graduated high school at Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, N.H. He married Joyce Ann (Stephenson) Dow on August 2, 1958, in Manchester and was a devoted husband for 67 years. He graduated from St. Anselm College, magna cum laude, with the GI Bill, majored in philosophy and was listed in Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges. He worked as a production manager and mentor to numerous supervisors for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons for 28 years. Based on his work performance, he consistently was recognized with handsome yearly salary bonuses. During his career, he advanced through the company at all levels and was successful enough to retire at the young age of 55 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (2nd Battalion; 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and two Good Conduct Medals. He was involved in coaching Little League baseball and officiating in swimming meets for his children. Frank enjoyed his 36 years of retirement migrating between his home in Hobe Sound, Fla., and his beloved camp on Nash’s Lake in Calais, Maine. He had many wonderful friends in both locations and was always ready to start up a conversation with those he met.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Francis Leo Mellon – 1963, Alice Aurillo Mellon – 1978, sisters Geraldine Marie Mellon – 1996, and Elizabeth Loraine Mellon – 2010.

Frank was devoted to his family and provided loving support and guidance to all when in need. Through the generosity of Frank and Joyce, they financially supported the education of their children and nearly all the grandchildren as lifelong learning was their passion.
