JILL RHODES

Jill Whittemore Rhodes entered heaven’s eternal embrace on June 21, 2025.
In her last few days, Jill reflected on her life with peace and gratitude, remarking how she felt she felt fortunate enough to do everything she wanted. Born in Indianapolis, Jill lived across the country over the course of her life. She attended University of Maryland for a couple of years before launching a successful fashion modeling career in New York City – a dream she had pursued since youth.
Jill met her future husband, Dr. Alfred Keith Rhodes, on a blind date. They married in 1958 and moved to Lawrenceburg in 1962. Keith and Jill were married 63 wonderful years until Keith’s passing in 2021.
Jill was a woman of deep faith and conviction, and these values manifested in her service to her community and country. In the late 1950s, she was active in the Young Republicans, which led her to campaign for and meet then-presidential candidate Dwight D. Eisenhower. Later in life, she and Keith served as Guardians ad Litem in the Dearborn County Court system, a reflection of their continued dedication to helping others.
Together, Jill and Keith lived vibrant, adventure-filled lives. They loved hiking and traveling the world, especially to places where they could enjoy nature and wildlife – whether watching polar bears in Canada, grizzlies in Alaska, or whales off the Baja Peninsula. Jill was known for her awe and reverence for the miracle of God’s creation. They spent their golden years on mountain trails and sandy beaches, surrounded by their children and grandchildren.
Jill leaves behind her beloved family: daughter Karen Rhodes Pearson and husband Jeffrey; son Alfred Travis Rhodes and wife Kimberly; and daughter Meghan Rhodes Oatman and husband Eric. She also leaves nine grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Mommom: Wade Pearson, Allyn Pearson, Quinn Snider and husband Christopher, Evan Oatman, Tyler Rhodes, Cameron Rhodes, Elaina Oatman and Logan Rhodes. Jill was blessed to be known as Gigi to her great-grandson, Graham Snider.
She will be remembered always for living an exemplary life of faith, charity, compassion, grace and generosity. She is already missed but is undoubtedly in the arms of Jesus and reunited with Keith and their beloved dog, Maxx.
Later this year, Jill and Keith will be taken to Tennessee – a favorite site of their many adventures – where their journey will continue. In accordance with her wishes, no traditional funeral services will be held.
