JOHANNA JARVIS

Mary Johanna (Oelker) Jarvis, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025 at Ridgewood Health Campus, Lawrenceburg, IN. The facility was across from the family farm where she grew up. When she was sitting outside, she would frequently tell stories about rounding up the sheep when they would get out of the pasture.  She was quite entertaining for the other residents that lived at Ridgewood.

She was born on October 19, 1934, in Lawrenceburg to Elmer William and Mary Margaret (Armbruster) Oelker and they preceded her in death.  She married John Wilbur Jarvis on May 4, 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  John passed away on December 30, 1993.

Johanna is survived by her daughters, Monica Kyle, Greendale IN, Jennifer M. Jarvis (Diane Davis), McDonough, GA, Rachel Jarvis (Craig Gomberg, MD), Torrance, CA; grandson, Brett (Lindsay) Kyle, Alpharetta, GA; great grandchildren, Bennett Matthew, Ellison Jane Kyle, sister in laws,  Elizabeth “Betty” Oelker and Marilyn Oelker; brother in law, Larry Jarvis; 2 nieces, Kandy and Sherry; 6 nephews, Maurice, Vincent, Linn, Mitch, David and Michael; nieces Lisette and Michele.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dennis Michael Jarvis (who passed away on May 11, 2016; brothers, Clifford, Maurice, Hubert “Hubie” Oelker, sister in law, Rita Oelker, niece, Maria Oelker Hernandi; cousin, Agnes Bauer (who as like her sister); nephew Dewayne; sister in law, Donna Carpenter; and her best friend, Harriett “Pet” Cleeter.

Johanna enjoyed talking and loved EVERYBODY! Her church was a huge priority in her life.  She was involved in every church festival and event, helping with organization and food preparation.   Jo was a member of the Lawrenceburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post # 239.  She belonged to Fire Company #3 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served many years as president.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monday, May 19, 2025 at 12 pm, with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.

Contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church or the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post #239 Ladies Auxiliary.

She received exceptional care at Ridgewood Health Campus for which the family is really grateful.
